Here is Tervis’ Harley-Davidson Collection. I designed my first Harley tumbler which you can see on a previous post here. They wanted me to create two more designs to complete the collection. This second wrap design showcases Harley’s signature V-Twin engine (V2). The art director wanted to showcase the chrome engine while integrating the transparent characteristics of the tumbler’s clear wrap substrate. I had to create the “chrome feel” graphically as the supplied image of the engine was too dark and didn’t convey the desired feel. The solution was to make the engine a secondary element while “chromifying” the rest of the design.
The third design was more focused on the history of Harley-Davidson. This design was to have a retro feel using an actual motorcycle image. I was allowed to choose which motorcycle to use as my main image, and I chose the 1958 Duo Glide.
In Harley’s library of assets they had a great pencil rendering which the company used for their 1958 brochure. This was perfect for the job. It definitely added to the retro feel and kept the design authentic.
The above image is the approved design prior to it being warped to fit the final tumbler’s template. The 3 images below show how the graphic evolved throughout the conceptual rounds.
Here’s a really cool 360 degree look of this classic Harley-Davidson ride created by Humster3D.com.
