Here is my collection of sports-related logos and some of their applications. From Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James to Tiger Woods, Albert Pujols and Derek Jeter, I’ve been very fortunate to design logos for some of the greatest athletes in sports. Probably my highest profile logo was the 2005 NBA All-Star Game Logo that I did for Reebok. I was lucky enough to attend the event as well. To see my logo on billboards, signage, apparel and even broadcasted on television as an animated 3D graphic was pretty dope.
However, my favorite “logo moment” has to be from the Upper Deck Super Bowl Party Logo (2008). Upper Deck went all out that year and rented an 18,000 square foot, two-level night club (Myst) in Scottsdale, Arizona. Even though I didn’t go to Super Bowl XLII (like some of my lucky co-workers) and see the Giants upset the undefeated Patriots, which still makes me smile, I was able to attend this party. There was a big four foot sign of my logo in the front of the club… nice. There was also a red carpet area for all the athletes and celebrities with my logo in the backdrop… cool. In the cigar room we even had Zippo lighters and matchboxes sporting my designs… word. But the kicker and what caught me off guard was an ice sculpture of my logo. Never thought I’d see that. You can see my half-melted logo here. Maybe I shouldn’t of hugged it for a good twenty minutes.
